Upon walking into the well-kept secret that occupies the space next to ‘The Village’ on Kellet way, one feels an odd sense of appreciation for not so much flavour, but authenticity. The soft adornment of Latin music is just one of the features of El Cubano that make it a rare diamond in a rough of over produced venues.
Situated in a Kings Cross courtyard that may as well be in the back streets of middle class south America, the staff are as warm as their accents.
The food is good. No, really good. That kind of salivating ‘I don’t even know what I’m eating but I can’t wait for the next bite’ good.
The menu is varied well across smaller and larger dishes, and features many things you may not be able to pronounce. I recommend the Ceviche Cubano (citrus cured fish of the day) and the pork belly (most incredible thing you will taste this year).
